Macaroni Kid & Friends are "Gifting" NOCO Families This Holiday Season

Registration is FULL. Local Businesses & NOCO Mac Kid Plan to Gift Families In NoCo.

By Melissa Shrader Editor/Publisher Fort Collins Macaroni Kid November 23, 2020

We've been thinking. What do we need more of? Holiday Cheer?

We need to bring a bit of happiness and normalcy as much as possible to our kids and ourselves.

Some wonderful local businesses have partnered to help the Elves, Fort Collins Macaroni Kid, and Loveland Macaroni Kid to create this special event!

Just like the Boo Baskets Macaroni Kid will "Gift" baskets to local families and those families will put "We've Been Gifted" signs on their door. If you would like a "You've Been Gifted" basket. We will be opening registration on November 30th for 100 families.

We are hoping to bring some holiday cheer and fun goodies to some local families, and in turn, have those families "Gift" a friend or two of their own. I know some families are eager to attend CDC compliant events and others still don't want to venture out yet. With the "Safer at Home" or Level Red in our state and county, many events have been altered or canceled for the holiday and we would like to help spread cheer and love throughout our community and help others in a safe and socially distanced way.

This project is a distanced/no contact event and will focus on uplifting the community like early in the pandemic when families put bears and hearts in windows.

How does it work?

How do we "Gift" someone?
•Fill a Gift basket full of goodies (candy individually wrapped, gluten free, nut free and allergy free, glow sticks, stickers, toys and Knick knacks etc)
•Place the "I’ve Been Gifted"' printouts  and other great things in the basket
•Leave the basket on the doorstep, ring the doorbell. and go.

What do you do once "You've Been Gifted".
•You open the door to see "You've Been Gifted". Kids are delighted by the surprise basket full of goodies!  The instructions inside explain how you can now make a basket or two and continue to gift a couple of your friends or neighbors.
•Then create the basket and place the other hand out in the basket in their window which tells everyone else in the neighborhood that you've been "Gifted" and not to leave another basket.

The idea is that the fun of "Gifting" continues till New Years' night.

Where will we be "Gifting"? Berthoud, Fort Collins, Loveland, Wellington, Timnath, Windsor, Johnstown, Milliken depending on how many sponsors we get to support creating the buckets.  If you or someone you want to receive a gift is outside of these towns let us know. We will see if an Elf can help deliver.
The families will be chosen on a first come first served basis from the registration form, and the buckets will be delivered during the second and third weeks of December.

Who doesn't love a fun friendly surprise on their doorstep?
