Publisher's Corner! Happy New School Year!

By Melissa Shrader Editor/Publisher Fort Collins Macaroni Kid August 19, 2021

WELCOME TO PUBLISHER'S CORNER!

I loved seeing all the pictures of friends family and subscribers' kids going back to school. No matter if you homeschool, private school, public school That first-day picture is one for the books!

Where is your favorite place to take your first day of school picture? We do one just in front of the school, one at our front door and one with friends at the beginning of the day. Since we have been homeschooling the last 2 years we have been homeschooling we do the front door and the front yard.

Do you have other traditions for the first day/first week of school?

I do a first day of school note for my daughter with some fun incorporated. We have done a scavenger hunt when she gets home for a prize.  On Friday we go out for ice cream and talk about the week. What her favorite part of the week was, if she's made new friends, what her favorite class is, and anything else that comes up.

We have a great article explaining what your younger kids need to know as school starts. Make this DIY Indoor/Outdoor Tent and have fun all year round.

If you're a runner like my husband and daughter are you will want to participate in the Dayspring Dash. Make sure you enter to win free registration for 4 by August 20th.

Congratulations to our winners of the Back To School Drawing from Local Author Natasha Wing. Allyson and Cathie for winning!

What are we up to?

With the lift of the Mask Mandate, we have seen a jump in events! Yay! Keep in mind that each event has its own rules and guidelines for attendance. As things change with the CDC COVID guidelines and local guidelines events may still be canceled or changed to meet those guidelines. Keep an eye out I will be adding events as quickly as possible. However, If you know of an event or have an event you want to add please feel free to do so. I get notifications of events to approve before they post.

Post it on our calendar at  https://fortcollins.macaronikid.com/events/submit

Don't forget to check out Facebook too for other events that have been popping up randomly since the State has changed the Stay at home quarantine to the Safer at the home guideline.

If you have other things you want to see Mac Kid do drop me an email.

If you want to partner with Mac Kid I'd love to hear from you.

Remember with any event, If the weather looks questionable, - Always check in with the event itself to be sure the event is still on! You can email me as well. ESPECIALLY IN SPRING AND FALL. Now that COVID has come please comply with the COVID guidelines requested by each establishment and organizer. If you have a question about their policies please contact them directly. COVID Guidelines change regularly, so be sure to make sure that an event is still compliant and not canceled.  We will update events regularly however we can't catch everything.

If you have the newsletter you only have part of the fun! I post on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram with holiday and everyday crafts, recipes, special offers, contests, news, and new events. (see the tabs on the right or at the bottom to visit the social site)
