Welcome Fall, Holidays, And BEing In The Moment.

By Melissa Shrader Editor/Publisher Fort Collins Macaroni Kid September 21, 2020

WELCOME TO PUBLISHER'S CORNER!

Welcome to Fall, this week. This is my favorite time of year (other than winter, spring, and summer LOL). Truly though this is a wonderful time of year with harvests and celebrations. Yes, it will look different. But we are still able to get to a Farmer's market and enjoy the fall fresh produce and products, we are still able to get our "pumpkin spice" on (LOL), and most importantly we are able to get our family traditions on.

I'm excited to decorate for fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving. I love to see my little girl run in and get all excited the house is different and come to the kitchen to help out with the holiday cooking, or at least eat some of the cookies. It's a great time to enjoy just "BEing". BE in this moment in history. It's a biggie. Peace, Equality of all kinds and a pandemic. BE kind, helpful, a great parent/guardian. BE who you want to be for yourself and your family.

We are taking this holiday season to make special memories. Our year of COVID memory's. Though I would have liked to never experienced this pandemic, it has brought about so many different ways we as a family have interacted and continue to interact. The challenges of online schooling, not being able to visit our family as much as we like, and not having our usual summer fun with friends has changed our social interaction but not who we are.

We are keeping a journal of the year. Marking milestones and highlights as well as the ground breaking and tough times in our journals has made it easier to keep ourselves both sane and reflective. It's also helped us talk through some of the tough stuff.  It's a great moment to teach what we see. And to learn a better way to BE. We've had some emotional talks, some funny conversations and some real breakdowns over both world and personal events.

I think this is an amazing time to be alive. There are plenty of things that have made us open up, grow, and rethink our individual impact on our world.

Keep a Watchful Eye!

The calendar will slowly begin to repopulate with in person events and we will keep virtual events too. Many of the usual events we would normally see have been canceled and will not resume again till next year. Some have just rescheduled.
