We have been so excited to see Disney’s Beauty & The Beast at Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, we couldn’t stand it! Finally, the day arrived! Beauty & The Beast is presented in the true Disney style. The show is family friendly, child worthy full of humor and delghtful! Candlelight Dinner Playhouse hosted a perfect performance. If you've never been to a Dinner Theatre it's a wonderful experience. You begin with dinner and then the performance. About half way through they pause for intermission and dessert is served. You may interact with the actors as they too are the waiters and you get to see them in costume delivering dessert. Then the performance continues on to the curtain calls.
We are all about princesses, great food, and wonderful entertainment. Candlelight Dinner Playhouse delivers every time. The food is always “magnifique” as Lumiere would say. We had the Parmesan Encrusted Tilapia, Ceaser Salad, and Corn dogs. As you can see they offer something for every age. The Tilapia was cooked perfectly and came with rice and mixed vegetables. My husband commented that the rice was the best he’d ever had. The Ceaser salad came with a Cheese Soufflé and was delicieux (delicious). The Corn Dogs were accompanied by steamed mixed veggies and tater tots and my daughter who is quite picky ate very well. Each dish was superb. For Dessert we enjoyed the Chocolate Eclairs and Crème Brule. Both were tres bon!
A quick note before I mention the show. Belle is probably one of my daughter’s most favorite princesses. Aside from Elsa, Belle is top of the ladder. As the lights turned down and the show began Kaity’s eyes were focused on the stage. She loved the way everything just happened like magic when the prince was turned into the Beast, and again at the end when he transformed back into the prince. She was delighted with the whole show and was singing along (and lip syncing) with all the songs. There were a couple scary parts when the wolves were Truly fun to watch and hear her.
As for my husband and I, we both enjoyed it immensely. There is some humor for the adults that the kids won’t pick up (entirely). The set was fantastic from the village to the castle and the woods in between. The actors truly transformed the story and made it seem real. Our waiter was Leo Battle who played several rolls as part of the ensemble. He was a delight. My daughter watched for him specifically during the whole show. Wait, didn’t I mention that the servers were all in the show? That’s also part of the charm of Candlelight Dinner Playhouse. Our drink waitress was Susanna Ballenski who had several rolls as well and whom my daughter kept an eye on too. It was fun for my daughter to see “who” our servers were in the play.
Belle is played by Katie Jackson and does she deliver! She sings each song just so. My daughter loved every note. Just like Belle Katie is also quite beautiful and transformed into her character effortlessly.
The lead actor, Kalond Irlanda also transforms (quite literally) into Beast effortlessly and gives an incredible performance. The make-up and wardrobe transform the handsome actor visually into the beast and his excellent performance completed the transformation transparently.
The whole cast fills the theatre with fun, suspense, and love. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at Candlelight dinner theater is a Must see for this holiday season! The show plays from November 16th through February 14th.
