Did you know about 16% of Americans go caroling,
according to the Pew Research Study?
As we get closer to the holidays, Loveland Academy of Music, which specializes in voice lessons, would love to speak on top caroling tips for amateur singers who want to spread holiday joy this year.
Caroling 101 tips the school would like to share include:
Songs to avoid: “O Holy Night” as it gets quite high towards the end. Ironically, “Here We Come A Caroling” throws everyone off as people don’t know the words as well as they think they do
Songs to embrace: “Jingle Bells,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” and “Silent Night” are all crowd favorites and can be sung with just melody.
How to organize your carol: The school recommends 3-4 songs at each stop, depending on the crowd.
Venture outside neighborhoods, consider small businesses, ice rinks and other destinations.
How to warm up your voice
How to keep your voice warm: Once you’re outside, you can make “zzzzz” sounds into a scarf to keep your voice warm, especially helpful on chilly nights).
