This Weeks Ponderance:
Trying new things.
It's a comfort zone issue isn't it? We all stay the course doing what we need to, what's routine and what's expected of us. Occasionally, we try something new. For some of us trying new things is routine...That's a fun topic of it's own. However, most of us find our comfortable routine and stay the course.
How do we react when something interrupts our comfortable routine?
Something minor that is a small change is easy to deal with. Then there are those things that are disruptive. They obliterate your day or week. Still manageable to an extent. The worst is those things that disrupt us to our core. The things that make us completely toss out our comfortable routine and begin again from scratch.
Resiliency is key.
For the most part we are all set up to bounce back. Let's face it. Most things are easy to bounce back from. There are things we take a bit longer to spring back from. What helps us keep going on?
Motivation.
What motivates us to bounce back? Family, friends, parents, grandparents are who help some of us. Lessons we've learned from them or on our own. Theme songs inspire us too. Some of us just are naturally resilient and unshakeable. Some of us need more support.
Just let yourself be open.
Trying new things before they are thrust upon you makes you more flexible, open to change and comfortable with the inevitability of change. It also makes our minds more pliable. It helps us cope with difficult changes. It helps us stave off dementia. It also makes life more exciting. We grow in unimaginable ways and show our children that anything is possible.
Keep trying new things.
Whether it's Real Estate class, painting, guitar, horseback riding, gardening, writing a book. Give something new a try and see where it takes you. If your kids are in a routine, get them out and try something new. Spark those neurotransmitters and make new connections.
It's a great way to meet new people too!
