A Heart-y Breakfast: Heart-Shaped Eggs

What you'll need:

  • Freshly hard-boiled eggs
  • A piece of stiff cardboard (a box or an empty and cleaned juice or milk carton works great!) shaped into a V-shape about the height of an egg
  • Chopsticks
  • Rubber bands
  • Plastic wrap

Directions:

  1. Wrap your just-peeled eggs in plastic wrap.
  2. Place inside the V-shaped cardboard.
  3. Lay a chopstick on top of the eggs.
  4. Wrap the rubber band securely around the chopstick and cardboard so the egg is nestled tightly between them.
  5. Refrigerate for about 2 hours.

Cut in half and serve with toast and berries to your egg-ceptional Valentine!

Where can you find heart shaped food around town?

All the grocery stores have either cupcakes with sweethearts on them or cakes in the shape of a heart. Don't forget to pick up some flowers or go for the heart shaped boxes of candy! Check out the freezer section for surprises like Tyson's Heart shaped chicken nuggets too. Our family favorite is to have a family dinner with our favorite foods and finish it up with heart shaped desserts we make ourselves. Sugar cookies, chocolate lava cakes, brownies cut in the shape of a heart. The possibilities are endless!

Pizza shops have their versions of heart shaped pizza too. Most have the heart on the menu for Valentine's day. Papa Johns, Papa Murphy's, Dominoes, Pizza Hut and more will feature pepperoni and cheese made to please.

Ice Cream shops have some special cakes for the day that you can order ahead and pick up at your convenience. (Think Dairy Queen Red Velvet Blizzard and Cupid Cakes filled with Peanut Butter, Fudge and caramel flavored truffles, or Cold Stone Chocolate Truffel Decadence heart shaped cake

Donut shops have the way to anyone's heart with heart shaped donuts, sprinkles in red pink and white and confections with red filling!

Most restaurants will feature a special menu or treat or both to celebrate your love.
