Win The Night Before - A Great Kids Series by Natasha Wing.

Meet Local Author Natasha Wing - More Than The Night Before Series, She Brings History To Life.

August 6, 2021

Local Author, Natasha Wing is more than the best-selling The Night Before series.

She brings history, diversity to life in a fun way for kids of all ages to learn.

Natasha Wing lives in Fort Collins and has been publishing books for the past 30 years, everything from fiction to nonfiction to joke books. She’s best known for her bestselling The Night Before series which includes holidays and back-to-school favorites such as The Night Before Kindergarten. Parents and teachers use her Night Before books to introduce kids to holidays from other cultures and to help little ones prepare for big events in kids’ lives.

“I was a shy, worrywart as a kid so my stories contain that anxious anticipation feel,” said Wing. “My message, however, is that everything will turn out better than okay in the end.”

Wing also writes narrative non-fiction. An Eye for Color: The Story of Josef Albers, is about her neighbor when she lived in Connecticut. Albers was an influential abstract artist who looked at color as it interacted with colors next to it.

“Josef lived down the street from me and I knew he was an artist but didn’t know he was famous until I saw his art in a museum.”

The book also contains a color wheel, color glossary, and activities.

“I love backmatter in books. It’s a great place to extend the learning experience.”

Check out the Author Notes in Wing’s nonfiction about Jackie Kennedy Onassis. When Jackie Saved Grand Central is about a former First Lady’s fight to save an iconic building in New York City. The case went all the way to the Supreme Court and made history in how cities could help preserve buildings across America.

Next year, a non-fiction chapter book filled with fun sidebars is coming out about a woman worth singing about (that’s all she can say for now!).

Wing also has a new board book coming out next year called Squeak-a-boo, and an independently published easy chapter book for kids who have outgrown picture books but not the Easter Bunny. The story was inspired by the lop-eared rabbit she owned when she lived in Arizona. The Legend of Lop-eared Larry contains a carrot cake recipe – Wing’s favorite flavor birthday cake!

She’s planning on some fun events in Fort Collins when that book is released. Right now she’s looking for reviewers for The Legend of Lop-eared Larry. So if you own a rabbit and love children’s books, email her at natashawing@gmail.com
