40+ Non-Candy Easter Basket Ideas

By Melissa Shrader Editor/Publisher Fort Collins Macaroni Kid April 6, 2020

I don’t know about you, but I am tired of dealing with the highs and lows of sugar rushes at every holiday. Since when did candy become the only gift for our children? I know the candy companies love the holidays, but I am not caving in to their cute little gimmicks anymore! It’s high time we parents of sugar-saturated kids demand that the Easter Bunny gets more creative and brings items of a practical and useful nature. I feel that the following are great replacements for candy and our children will love them just as much, if not more:

  1. Books
  2. Stuffed animals
  3. Clothes
  4. Bubbles
  5. Playdough
  6. Chalk
  7. Gardening supplies (seeds, shovel, kid gloves)
  8. Hair accessories
  9. Umbrella
  10. Rain boots
  11. Crayons and coloring books
  12. Bath toys
  13. Lip balm
  14. Putty
  15. Building bricks
  16. Sunglasses
  17. Keychain
  18. Hat
  19. Stress balls
  20. Gel pens
  21. Decorative tape
  22. Gift cards
  23. Movie tickets
  24. Fuzzy blanket
  25. Glow sticks
  26. Party favors
  27. Pencils and other stationery
  28. Funky socks
  29. Temporary tattoos
  30. Nail stickers
  31. Nail polish
  32. Earrings
  33. Mini diecast cars
  34. Brain teaser games
  35. Toy figures
  36. Paints
  37. Craft kit
  38. Science kit
  39. Sports balls
  40. Stickers
  41. Stampers
  42. Bubble bath and lotion
  43. We could go on and on but I'm sure these items have sparked your creative side.
  44. Ok, and maybe some candy. Preferably chocolate. Dark chocolate. Just a little bit--you know, for those late night Easter basket raidings...

Happy Easter!
