Get Out of The House and Celebrate the State Parks.
The Colorado Parks and Wildlife has partnered with the Colorado State Library to launch a Library Card Sign-up photo contest beginning Sept. 1 through Sept. 19.
What do you have to do? Just visit one of Colorado’s 42 state parks and document the visit by posting a selfie or group photo on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag: #CheckOutColorado. Just post and you are entered for a chance to win a picnic basket and an adventure backpack full of educational items. The drawing will take place Tuesday, Sept. 20.
The social media photo contest is a part of the American Library Association’s Library Card Sign-up Month during September. The state hopes the contest will highlight the importance of both state parks and libraries throughout Colorado.
The partnership launched the Check Out Colorado State Parks program to allow anyone with a library card to check out a state park pass and nature backpack from any participating public, military or college libraries. The library card holder may use the pass for one week to visit any of Colorado’s designated state parks.
There are several other wonderful things that Colorado State Library and the Colorado State Parks have partnered to do. Have you heard you can check out a Park Pass? It can be checked out for up to a week and is intended mainly for those who have not been to the park or who can’t afford to go to the park.
