Bring In New Years Resolutions And Keep Them.

The beginning of 2017 is here! The closing of one year and the beginning of another can be both exciting and daunting. New years revolutions are a great way to set positive intentions; however, knowing how to follow through on your goals is crucial to creating sustained change. The outline below is based on treatment plans used in therapeutic settings. I’ve found that they can be a wonderful way for just about anyone who is looking to make some life adjustments. A happier and healthier you is just a few steps away!

 

            Below is a New Year’s Plan outline. I have included an example in red along with descriptions to help you get started in the parentheses. I encourage you to copy and paste this into a word document to fill in with your own plans for the new year!

 

 

New Year’s Plan


(The first section names the issue. Here you can provide specific examples of what you would like to see change. i.e. Organize, Lose Weight, Stop Smoking, etc.)

 

Area In Need of Growth:

A. Quality Time with Spouse

(The next section is your evidence. This section is a reminder of why your area of growth needs attention. It can be helpful when you start to rationalize when things get difficult thinking, “It really wasn’t that bad, was it?”)

As Evidenced By:

 

A.Increase in Feeling Distant

                                    B.Poor Communication

                                    C. Loss of Patience for One Another
